Santiago
Izquierdo (Painter)
(Sotillo
de la Ribera)
He was born in Sotillo de la Ribera in 1948. He performs several painting genres (portrait, still life, interiors). But his landscapes show an expressive language he is completely identified with, through his lyrical treatment of the Castilian landscape. He uses a broad, colourful palette which produces lively and warm colors applied with great plastic intensity. The artist starts off from a naturalist Castilla landscape and reaches compositive schemes, which in some paintings become abstract landscape representations.
Santiago Izquierdo has taken part in several national contests and has made countless exhibitions in several Spanish towns. |
