The Center for Tourist EnterprisesWine Route-Afluente Rural was established in 1997 to encourage and provide tourism promotion to the geographical area formed by the municipalities of Gumiel de Izán, La Aguilera, Gumiel de Mercado, Sotillo de la Ribera and the district of Pinillos de Esgueva, La Horra, Olmedillo, Anguix, Roa and Pedrosa de Dueroand their districts, Valcabado de Roa, Boada de Roa, Quintanamanvirgo and Guzmán, integrated with the Community Wine Route-Afluente Rural.

Those municipalities belong to the Ribera del Duero area and are located south of the Burgos province on both sides of N-1 highway. The area has easy access via highway transportation, N-1 road links up with Madrid and the Basque Country, N-122 with Aragón, Cataluña and Valladolid, and C-619 with northern Palencia, Santander, etc.

Therefore, CIT Wine Route main objective is developing the tourism potential of these towns, as well as stimulating activities focused on broadening the supply of cultural and environmental activities, sports, folklore, catering and accommodation to attract new visitors-holidaymakers and motivate the existing ones to enhance the enjoyment of their free time.

Thanks to the attraction that the zone has had for tourists for a long time due to the fame of Ribera del Duero wines, CIT intends to channel and even improve this tourist attraction, so the visitor can also enjoy the monumental and landscaping wealth, as well as the quality of its rural lodgings.

Actions being taken towards this goal are the following: integrating rural tourism structure of a regional and/or national nature, offering rural tourism accommodation, publishing tourist leaflets of the Wine Route, Hiking Routes and Summer Cultural Route, organizing Tasting Journeys, collaborating with the Community Festival...

Currently there are around 70 CIT members, including wineries, restaurants, associations and private members, although this number continues to increase.
